Ways To Reach Kedarkantha

If people are planning to visit Kedarkantha from Delhi then first they have to go to Dehradun. Dehradun is very well-connected with the big cities of our country by air, rail or by road.

From Delhi to Dehradun 

By air 

The distance from Delhi to Kedarkantha is about 300 km. People have to just take a flight from Delhi to Dehradun and in Dehradun there are so many taxis available which will directly take them to Kedarkantha. If people want to save their money, then they can opt a bus from outside the airport. Always choose the morning ride because if people visit late at night then there would be no means to travel to Kedarkantha instantly.

By road

The distance from Delhi to Kedarkantha is about 452 km by road.

  • Bus

There are so many direct buses from Delhi and Dehradun which directly take people to Kedarkantha. These buses will leave from the central bus station from Delhi and reach Dehradun.

  • Drive

People can also choose the option of driving from Delhi to Dehradun. It will take approximately two days to reach Dehradun and it also costs more as compared to the bus ride.

By rail

From Dehradun To Kedarkantha

The Kedarkantha trek will be 6 days. Here is the terrain of the Kedarkantha trek-

Day 1- Dehradun to Sankri

The drive distance from Dehradun to Sankri is about 187 km. The time duration will be around 6 to 7 hours. The elevation would be about 1950 m.

Starting the journey from Dehradun to the Sankri Village. Enjoy the wonderful route from Dehradun to Sankri of the pine forests, Yamuna and Tons river. Choose the comfortable campsites in Sankri and do overnight stay there.

Day 2- Sankri To Juda Ka Talab

The duration will be around 3 to 4 hours.

Trekking distance- 4 km

The elevation would be about 2786 m.

After having breakfast, people have to set out for the hike from the Saur village and have to start climbing. People will cross through the bridges and small villages. After then, they will reach the lake, Juda Ka Talab and here it is believed that Lord Shiva has opened a lock from his hair and the water dropped from his hair Has formed a huge lake. Do overnight stay at Juda Ka Talab.

Day 3

The duration will be around 4 to 5 hours.

Trekking distance- 4 km

The elevation would be about 3430 m.

After having breakfast, move towards the Kedarkantha base. The weather would be harsh sometimes. People have to comfort themselves in the Gujjar huts. People can see the amazing snow-capped Himalayan peaks of Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Ranglana and Swargarohini.

Do overnight stay in the Kedarkantha base.

Day 4- Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit

 The duration will be around 6 to 7 hours.

Trekking distance- 6 km

The elevation would be about 3800 m.

Now people have to start the real adventure, they have to start trekking around 2 a.m. and for 7 to 8 hours to reach the peak point. After spending amazing time at the peak point go back to the base camp.

Day 5- Base Camp To Sankri

The duration will be around 4 to 5 hours.

Trekking distance- 6 km

The elevation would be about 1950 m.

After having the breakfast, go back to the Sankri village and be ready to listen to the local stories of this place from the local people of this village. Do overnight stay at Sankri village.

Day 6- Sankri To Dehradun

The drive distance from Sankri to Dehradun is about 187 km. The time duration will be around 6 to 7 hours.

The elevation would be about 640 m.

After having breakfast in the Sankri village go back where the journey has started i.e. to Dehradun.
